Sweet Rides Visiting Bang Saray Beach

Honda Rides Visiting Bang Saray Beach

In the picturesque small beach town of Bang Saray, we get to see the sea and palm trees and spectacular sunsets every day. However on this particular day, a good number of Honda custom cars showed up as a group, truly bringing a nice atmosphere and something to enhance the enjoyment for anyone mildly interested in such matters. Some from out of town, many from around the area. Bang Saray is popular with locals more than tourists, and they like to come and find the spot to utilise where the car can be parked right by the sea for a picnic.

Favorite Hondas

You can check out 2 other Hondas already featured in this post. Here are some more seen on Bang Saray beach around January time, I posted some of these photos on my main Instagram.

A pair of very clean older model Honda Civics, the blue a Type-R, or is a replica?

The blue Civic looks to be an EK9 Type R. It could equally be an EK9 Civic with all the Type R bits and a lot more added. As covered in a previous post on car customization in Thailand, replicas are the norm. Nowadays it doesn’t mean fake, it can be something built from the same parts, or even better ones. Importing parts doesn’t carry the 200% luxury tax of importing a vehicle. Thailand protects its domestic market and also has created one of the the best after-market and part-importer industry is worth billions. (Exact figures needed).

Looking Cool in Blue

Whether a Honda Civic upgraded or an original Type R, doesn’t matter when it’s been made this good. It looks to have a lot of advanced parts and very well prepared paint. It looks the part too much to be anything less! As these pictures tell you, in Thailand there is a thriving scene for modifying and love for Honda custom cars.

It’s a Type R. Or is it a Type R? Replicas nowadays are better than the factory originals.

One of the cleanest of the bunch was this blue and black Honda Civic hatchback with SPOON racing parts, a popular Japanese Honda after-market tuning brand. It’s an EK9 Type R Civic,a top of the range performance version the 6 th gen Honda Civic.

The Civic is a very popular car for these clean kind of project cars, and can be spotted all over Thailand.

There were a handful of them. The others were non Type R models, yet still had a lot of accessories, racing seats, dials and nice wheels and so on. Reminds me a little of the old Fast Car era of the 90s!

3 of the Honda’s had parked up together next to the ex-Navy vessel which is now parked along the waterfront as a decoration. EK9 Type R on the right.

Notice the bumber with holes drilled out of it. I think it’s mostly for styling and to make it look more race car.

Euro style yellow headlights for the look alone. Clean looking black Honda Civic

You can follow the builder/owner of some of these cars on Instagram

Nissan Skyline GT-R

Moving on from all the Honda custom car love. Nissan’s supercar eater from the late 90s/early noughts. They have all wheel drive, are front-mid engined, and were the first to have advanced levels of traction and stability control systems enabling the car to make extremely quick progress in a variety of conditions. They went faster and were more capable than supercars costing 5x as much. Still a formiddible machine today. More one day when I can meet the owner of this car, which I do see around quite often.

Nissan GT-R aka ‘Godzilla’

GT-R rear view

We’re gonna try and see more of this R34 Skyline soon.

Meanwhile …

There’s also a very sweet little early Corolla who’s often parked up on the strip in the evening. Makes a nice contrast to those modern custom Honda cars and GT-R

Nothing wrong, just for show

Very clean and well maintained! Note the updated radiator and hoses, strong and reliable even in the hot local climate

Just a Typical Tire Shop

Siri-Nan Dunlop, Bang Saray.

So you roll in with a flat, and are immediately drawn into the very tempting display of rims!

The local Dunlop franchise in the village, we had a flat one day and had to roll ourselves in. So I grabbed a few pictures, and sure if I ever have the budget I want a set of these sensational wheels.

Very in-trend matte black look which can work will with certain rides especially pickup trucks, which most of these will end up on.

Closer look, very nice satin/matte grey metal or black finish.

Transformers living in Thailand!

Leaving you with something fun. You see these Transformers (and also Aliens) outside many car repair shops and other businesses. Some of them are full size.

Ever wondered what Transformers do now they don’t have any movie roles? Outside, Bumblebee is on duty drawing patrons to this wheel and tire spot 🙂

He’s one of us now

These splendid sculptures are made from scrap and worn out car parts. Of course, this being Thailand it’s likely possible to order one of these for your own business or as a garden display.
